Njeri Gitau | Artist & Founder of Njerdoesitagain & Mikono Moyo I never thought I would call myself an entrepreneur. Coming from a family of business-minded individuals, I saw firsthand the challenges of being your own boss—the long nights, the uncertainty, the constant push to stay relevant. I told myself, *never ever.* Fast forward to 2023, working a full-time job just above minimum wage, searching for any way to make ends meet. I almost fell for quick-money schemes, convinced there had to be an easy way—until I hit a wall. That’s when God placed a dream in my heart. A dream so vivid it led me to create *Africans in The Diaspora*—a painting that became the turning point of my creative journey. That piece, inspired by my own experience as an African in the diaspora, resonated deeply and became my most sought-after work. My father, recognizing its significance, made sure it stayed in the family. This realization led to the birth of **Mikono Moyo**, a name that means *hands and heart* in Swahili. My mother always told me, *Gasheri, you have a gift with your hands!* and I finally embraced it. My art is a reflection of the world around me—vivid colors, light bouncing off buildings, the unique cultural patterns that shape identity, and even the way a rainy road captures city lights. In 2024, I took the leap, fully committing to my art business and allowing the world to see what I see. Now, through Mikono Moyo, I create vibrant digital portraits, acrylic paintings, and teach landscape painting through **Art Nights**. My work is deeply inspired by my Kenyan and Canadian roots, everyday moments, and my faith. I am excited to share this journey with you all—creating, growing, and walking in my purpose.
